JOB SUMMARY

The Connections Minister of Central Christian Church is responsible for the design, management and execution of the connectional relationship mechanisms with the congregation, campus and community. This position reports to the Senior Minister and serves in a collaborative team approach. The primary responsibilities are ChurchGrowth – visitor attraction, connection, and integration; Children, Youth and Family Connections, Care & Education; Campus and Community Connections – engagement with those on and off campus who have connected with us in some way. This person will also recruit, train, lead and organize volunteers who serve in these areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Connect visitors into the active ministry life of the congregation.

  • Design and lead ministry to children, youth and families affiliated with the congregation and campus.

  • Cultivate relationships and partnership opportunities with various groups and individuals who come to the Central Westside Campus.

  • Represent Central Christian Church in a professional manner on a daily basis, underscoring the values and beliefs of the Church.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regular participation in worship under the guidance of the Senior Pastor.

  • Periodic and regular preaching under the guidance of the Senior Pastor.

  • Participation as part of the team planning worship.

  • Create a safe and hospitable space for the ministries and partners of CentralChristian Church.

  • Be available as a resource to other staff.

  • A representative of Central Christian Church in the greater Dallas community and with ministry partners.

  • Communication of Central Christian Church’s larger vision via Social Media and other public communication channels

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters of Divinity and good standing in either the Christian Church (Disciples ofChrist) or United Church of Christ, or comparable relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness organizing and leading connectional programs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Mastery and comfort using basic computer programs and technology.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and experience with innovation.

  • Commitment to the vision of Central Christian Church.

YOUTH MINISTER / DIRECTOR: First Christian Church, Rowlett TX

We are a church with a long and proud history, built on a strong foundation of over 120 years of service to Rowlett and surrounding communities, yet we are a young church in a growing community that is accessible to an ever-evolving culture in the Dallas area. First Christian Church, Rowlett is a community of faith with diversity in age, race, and denomination backgrounds. Our focus is on spiritual enrichment, family, and community involvement with an eagerness to share God’s message and blessings to all people.

JOB DESCRIPTION—Hiring Start 2019

  • Be a spiritual mentor to the youth of this church.

  • Position title is Youth Minister if position is filled by a commissioned ordained/minister or Youth Director if position is filled by lay person.

  • Supervised by Senior Minister.

  • Implement and oversee an active – year round ministry for Chi- Rho (middle school) and CYF (high school); including Sunday School and weekly activities; as well as special events.

  • Involve youth in one mission opportunity each year.

  • Recruit, train, and involve adult sponsors and teachers in the youth program.

  • Coordinate registration for all youth events.

  • Facilitate youth events in cooperation with other local churches, our DOC Tri-Area, and FCC Vision and Ministry Efforts.

  • Attend at least one summer camp, if asked to staff/possible, and one mid-winter retreat per year.

  • Participate in worship service leadership as agreed upon with the Senior Minister.

 

Other expectations include:

  • Regular communication with staff and ministry council (Department Chairs & Senior Minister).

  • Maintain communication with the congregation, parents, and youth through e-mail, text, social media, church newsletter, and etc…

  • Personal continuing education and maintaining a healthy, Christian lifestyle.

 

Job parameters and benefits:

  • Part time: 20 hours per week

    • Sunday mornings from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.

    • Organized youth group meeting during the week (time and day selected by Youth Minister/Director and youth).

    • At least two hours per week of office hours.

    • At least five hours per week of prayer, study, organization, and communication (from home is acceptable).

Compensation and Benefits

Total Salary - $12,000.00 annually

The compensation may be broken out into salary, expenses and pension (for ministers) at your request.

  • 2 weeks vacation

  • 1 week spiritual renewal

  • 1 week continuing education

Youth Program Coordinator: Midway Hills Christian Church, Dallas

This position is for 12 hours per week. Compensation is $20.00 per hour.

Description:

Midway Hills Christian Church is an open and affirming, progressive congregation in the heart of North Dallas that seeks to hire a Youth Program Coordinator to create and maintain a program for youth ranging from 4th through 12th grades.

Supervision/Accountability:

The Youth Coordinator reports to the Senior Minister.

Job Qualifications

  • Strong relational skills with youth and adults.

  • Enthusiasm for working with and teaching middle school and high school students. - Strong verbal and written communication, basic computer literacy.

Job Responsibilities

  • To develop relationships with youth (4th-12th grade) and their families.

  • To have oversight of the program and plan events/equip ministries

  • Integrate the youth into the life of the church.

  • Encourage discipleship and develop faith among the youth.

  • Reach out to the greater community.

  • Participate regularly in worship and in the life of the church.

  • Build and edit curriculum for Sunday School, Summer Programming, etc.

  • Participate in monthly Cabinet meetings and other aspects of church life as assigned.

  • Update congregation on programming, plans, etc. via regular articles in the MHCC newsletter, The Echo.

Programs

Coordinate with other staff and volunteers on all programming for youth, including but not limited to: Sunday School, mission projects, church camp and North Texas Area events, social and fundraising activities, and outreach to community families and youth.
