From Elena Huegel, our Global Mission Partner in Chile

Dear Friends and Family,

I have wonderful news for all of you and for you to share! Thanks to your generous offerings and to the support of One Great Hour of Sharing and Week of Compassion, we have received word from Global Ministries that the Pentecostal Church of Chile has the funds available to build twenty more Blessing Cabins. I think that this would put the count at about 30 from the Curicó Church, 35 from the Pentecostal Church of Chile (I don´t have the exact number for these), and 20 from these special offerings. That would put us at 85 cabins total so far!

Thanks to each one of you who has kept Chile in your prayers and for your generosity in this time of need. Every time I feel overwhelmed, especially as I walk about Talca and see entire blocks with the word DEMOLER (DEMOLISH or CONDEMNED) painted across the doors of home after home, I remember that you have not forgotten the brothers and sisters of the Pentecostal Church of Chile and so I am encouraged. I praise God when that 85 families from the Pentecostal Church of Chile will be safe and dry this winter. The weather is holding, and even though normally at this time of the year, I am praying for rain to refresh the earth after the summer dryness, this year I am grateful, along with many others, for blue skies and warm weather.

Shalom,
Elena

PS I am sending you a before and after of almost the same spot on the main square of Talca where my favorite seafood restaurant used to be. When I went yesterday, I took pictures - today the wrecking crew was hard at work. There were crews in different points of the city - the dust is unbearable - especially since it is mixed with all kinds of paint and other substances (hmmmm....how much of it is lead?) But most of the work is in the main part of downtown. There are many villages that haven`t even had a visit from the municipal inspectors yet.
