“Life Together:Practicing Christian Discipleship in Community" is a retreat for clergy and congregational leaders who want better understand and put into practice disciplines of Christian discipleship in community. Along with Jim Wallis, we believe, "The greatest need of our time is for koinonia, the call simply to be the church, to love one another, and to offer our lives for the sake of the world. The creation of living, breathing, loving communities of faith at the local church level is the foundation of all other answers."
As the various forces of the modern world schools us in the values of freedom, individualism, self-reliance, and self-advancement, the church is called to form a people with different practices, different patterns of thinking and behaving, different “habits of the heart.” Of such is the subject of our retreat.
As a result of this retreat you can expect to be able to:
1. Develop a greater understanding of the nature, purpose, and practice of Christian discipleship in community.
2. Participate in Christian community through particular practices of study, conversation, prayer, and worship.
3. Begin to envision how you-and your congregation-can grow in discipleship and Christian witness.
